We are part of the HCF More for Teeth preferred provider program.

Yes. Our team can arrange payment plans for patients based on their individual situation. Get in touch with our clinic to discuss a custom payment plan option.

We recommend choosing a private health fund that has no preferred provider system. The preferred provider system restricts you going to certain providers; hence, you do not have complete freedom of choice when choosing your health professional. Further, you can compare multiple PHF from unbiased Gov website: www.privatehealth.gov.au.

We accept all Australian health funds or private health insurers and have an in-practice HICAPS terminal for on-the-spot claims.

Our clinic accepts all major Australian credit cards, cash and bank transfer payments.

Ozone Dentistry

In early or moderate gum disease, ozone may reduce or replace the need for traditional deep cleaning.

Yes! Visit us at Tooth Spectrum in Mentone to explore how ozone therapy can be part of your personalised care plan.

Ozone targets harmful microbes while preserving beneficial bacteria, unlike antibiotics that disrupt your entire microbiome.

Preventative ozone treatment every 3–6 months may help maintain a healthy oral microbiome.

Absolutely. It’s a gentle, non-toxic option for children prone to cavities or undergoing orthodontic care.

Yes, it is backed by clinical evidence and approved for dental use. We use only TGA-approved ozone systems and follow strict safety protocols.

No, ozone therapy is non-invasive and well tolerated by all ages.

Laser Dentistry - Fotona Laser

Yes, we offer a range of cosmetic laser treatments, including teeth whitening, gum contouring, and skin and lip laser rejuvenation options like SmoothLase™ and LipLase™.

The laser targets infected gum tissue and bacteria, removing harmful pathogens while promoting healthy tissue recovery. This promotes healing and reduces the risk of further infection.

Most patients find laser treatments more comfortable than traditional methods. The laser’s precision reduces the need for anaesthesia, and its gentle nature minimises postoperative discomfort. The only difference you may notice is a pulse noise when the laser is in use.

Laser root canal therapy provides better disinfection, less post-treatment sensitivity, and a faster healing process compared to traditional root canals.

Laser dentistry uses focused light energy to perform dental procedures with greater precision and comfort. It can be used for both hard and soft tissue treatments, including cavity preparation, gum disease treatment, and cosmetic procedures.

Cleanings & Examinations

Yes, free consultations are offered to help patients understand their oral health needs and create a personalised care plan.

GBT is designed to be comfortable and minimally invasive, making it suitable for patients with all types of teeth, especially those with sensitive teeth.

Most patients benefit from a clean every six months, but with Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT), cleaning schedules are customised based on your individual oral health needs. People with bad bacteria in their mouth may need initially more frequent cleans until healthy bacteria develops.

Tooth sensitivity can arise from enamel erosion, gum recession, or cavities. Using desensitising toothpaste, adopting a soft-bristled toothbrush, and avoiding acidic foods can help alleviate the discomfort. It's crucial to consult with your dentist for a proper diagnosis and tailored treatment recommendations.

Absolutely. Dental anxiety is common, and we strive to create a comfortable and reassuring environment for our patients. Communication is key; let us know your concerns, and we'll work together to make your experience as pleasant as possible.

While GBT helps maintain healthy gums, patients with gum disease may require a more in-depth treatment plan. Comprehensive periodontal care is available and can be discussed during a consultation.

If you have inflamed gums, teeth cleaning may become an unpleasant experience. Further, Old technology scaling can also add to this discomfort. Therefore, Mentone Family Dentist has invested in an EMS airflow Guided Biofilm Therapy which is the Latest Swiss technology in teeth cleaning which is not only gentle but also very thorough. It gives your teeth a more thorough and precise cleaning, ensuring that we get rid of not just what you can see but also what you can't see. It can leave your teeth feeling smoother and cleaner, and it may even help prevent future dental problems by thoroughly removing the biofilm. It's like a spa day for your teeth!

Examinations are an important opportunity for us to check in with you, see how you are doing, and make sure that your teeth are healthy. We want to catch problems when they are small and can be treated easily.

Unfortunately, by the time you are in pain, simple measures are usually no longer effective. Regular examinations allow us to identify problems early, and keep your teeth healthy and beautiful.

Both manual and electric toothbrushes can be effective when used correctly. Electric toothbrushes make it easier to clean hard-to-reach areas and generally are more effective at removing plaque and preventing gingivitis. We recommend electric toothbrushes for our patients.

GBT targets bacteria (biofilm) more effectively, uses gentler technology, and is personalised based on gum health, making it a more advanced alternative to traditional scaling and polishing.

It's generally recommended to have a dental check-up every six months. However, depending on your oral health, your dentist might suggest more frequent visits.

CBCT Imaging, Trios 3D Scanner, EMS Airflow®, and the Dental Microscope are used for precision, comfort, and better long-term results.

Dental X-rays help in detecting issues that might not be visible during a regular dental examination, such as cavities between teeth, problems below the gum line, or infection/abscess in the jawbone.

Dental X-rays help in detecting issues not visible to the naked eye, such as cavities between teeth or problems below the gum line. Modern dental X-rays use minimal radiation, and with proper precautions, they are considered safe. However, it's essential to inform your dentist if you're pregnant.

Yes, dental sealants are a safe and effective way to protect your child's teeth from cavities. They act as a protective shield over the tooth's enamel.

It's recommended to schedule your child's first dental visit by their first birthday or when their first tooth appears, whichever comes first. This helps child to get familiarised with dental check-up. If you wait till, they have cavities or pain, they may develop life-long phobia and avoid Dentist. Prevention is best and most gentle way for children and would make their dental visit very fun and pleasant.

Talk to your child about the importance of dental health, use positive language, and assure them that the dentist is a friend. You can also read them books or show videos about first dental visits. If you have phobia, please do not share that with your child as this could make them more apprehensive.

Dental X-rays help in detecting issues that might not be visible during a regular dental examination, such as cavities between teeth, problems below the gum line, or infection/abscess in the jawbone.

X-rays are one of a dentist's most important diagnostic tools. Often, problems start inside your teeth or beneath the gumline. By the time the problem is visible to the naked eye, it can be painful and more difficult to treat. Using x-rays taken on a regular basis, we can catch problems early and treat them quickly and comfortably.

Depending on the complexity of the case, the procedure can often be completed in a single visit. During your consultation, we’ll provide an estimate based on your specific needs.

Most patients experience minimal discomfort during and after the procedure. Laser technology reduces the need for traditional instruments, making the treatment less invasive and more comfortable.

Alternatives to root canal treatments include tooth extraction followed by a dental implant or bridge. In certain situations, another treatment called pulp capping is an option, where the exposed pulp is covered in hopes it will heal on its own.

Laser technology offers better disinfection, minimal tissue damage, reduced post-treatment sensitivity, and faster healing compared to traditional root canal methods.

Laser root canal therapy uses advanced laser technology to clean and disinfect the tooth’s root canal system more thoroughly than traditional methods, enhancing treatment outcomes and reducing the risk of reinfection.

A root canal treatment involves removing the infected or damaged pulp (nerve and tissue inside the tooth) from a tooth's inner chamber and sealing it. Root canals are generally safe. Our practice uses advanced technology such as dental lasers and microscopes to improve the safety and effectiveness of these procedures, whilst reducing patient discomfort. SWEEPs LASER technology is the most effective way of disinfecting tooth during root canal treatment and is available at our practice.

Dental Implants

Most adults in good general health are suitable candidates for dental implants. However, conditions like uncontrolled diabetes, severe gum disease, or insufficient bone density may require additional treatment or alternative solutions. A thorough evaluation is necessary to determine the best course of action for each individual.

With modern anesthetic techniques, discomfort during the dental implant procedure is minimal. Most patients experience little to no pain during the surgery itself. Any post-surgical discomfort can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers and typically subsides quickly

Caring for dental implants is similar to caring for your natural teeth. Regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups are essential to maintain the health of your implants and surrounding tissues. Good oral hygiene will help ensure the longevity and success of your implants

The dental implant process typically takes between 3 to 6 months from the initial placement to the fitting of the final restoration. This time frame allows the implant to fully integrate with the jawbone, ensuring a stable and lasting result. However, individual circumstances may cause this timeline to vary.

The one-stage implant process involves placing the implant and abutment in a single procedure, which can be particularly useful in the anterior (front) teeth where aesthetics and reduced treatment time are important. The two-stage process, however, is generally considered slightly better as it involves placing the implant first and allowing it to fully integrate with the bone before attaching the abutment and crown in a second procedure. This approach confirms the stability of the implant before proceeding, making it a preferred choice in more complex cases or when additional bone grafting is required.

At Mentone Family Dentist, we use photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy, also known as LASER therapy, to enhance the healing process and improve the outcomes of dental implant procedures. PBM therapy uses low-level laser light to stimulate cellular activity, reduce inflammation, and accelerate tissue repair. This advanced technology helps to promote faster healing and reduce post-operative discomfort, contributing to the overall success of your dental implant treatment.

Dental implants have a very high success rate, generally exceeding 95%, especially when patients follow post-operative care instructions and attend regular follow-up appointments. Good oral hygiene and overall health are key to maintaining the success and longevity of dental implants.

Vitamin D plays a crucial role in bone health by helping the body absorb calcium, which is essential for bone growth and healing. Adequate levels of vitamin D can improve the success of dental implants by promoting better integration of the implant with the jawbone. Patients are often encouraged to ensure they have sufficient vitamin D levels before and after implant surgery to support optimal healing.

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners are highly effective for treating many orthodontic issues, including crooked teeth, gaps, and certain bite irregularities. They offer a modern alternative to traditional braces with the advantage of being nearly invisible and more comfortable, however there may be specific situations where they may not be suitable for you. This will be discussed on an individual case basis during your aligner consultation with Dr. Verma.

Yes, you can use private health insurance for clear aligners if your policy covers orthodontic treatment. Coverage will depend on your insurer and plan. We recommend checking with your provider to understand what benefits you're entitled to.

Clear aligners should be cleaned daily to maintain hygiene and prevent staining. Rinse them under lukewarm water, use safe detergent designed for dental appliances and brush them gently with a toothbrush. Avoid using hot water as it can warp the aligners. Additionally, make sure to brush and floss your teeth after each meal before reinserting your aligners to maintain good oral health. For best hygiene, we recommend using Zima pod – an ultrasonic cleaner –available for purchase at the clinic.

The cost of Invisalign treatment varies depending on the complexity of the case, but prices start from $5,000. We provide a detailed quote after a thorough assessment during your initial consultation.

For optimal results, clear aligners should be worn for 20 to 22 hours per day. They should only be removed for eating, drinking anything other than water, and for brushing and flossing your teeth.

Invisalign is a popular and well-known brand of clear aligners. There are a range of additional clear aligner brands are also effective and work similarly. Invisalign uses a proprietary material called SmartTrack, designed for comfort and precise tooth movements, while other brands like Spark aligners and Reveal aligners may use different materials and technologies. Each brand has unique features that may be more suitable depending on the specific treatment needs and preferences. We will discuss the details of each brand with you and determine which suits your requirements best at your free consultation.

The duration of treatment for Invisalign and other clear aligners varies based on individual needs, typically ranging from 6 to 24 months. Your specific timeframe will be outlined by Dr. Verma during your initial consultation, based on your dental goals and the complexity of your case.

Veneers & Smile Design

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.

It is not possible to change the colour of any restorative dental material with teeth whitening. If you are interested in having your natural teeth whitened, this should be done before veneers are placed. Your veneers can then be matched to the shade of your whitened teeth.

They don't require much more than your usual oral hygiene routine—just brush, floss, and attend regular check-ups. Avoid biting hard objects or using your teeth as tools.

With proper care, porcelain veneers can last between 10 to 15 years, sometimes even longer.

Porcelain veneers typically last 10–15 years or more with good care. Composite veneers and dental bonding may require maintenance after 5–10 years.

It varies depending on your treatment plan, but most veneer cases are completed over 2–3 appointments within a few weeks.

Cosmetic veneers enhance the front-facing surfaces of teeth, while occlusal veneers cover the chewing surfaces to restore worn teeth and support proper bite function.

Not always—but if your teeth are misaligned, orthodontics can improve the outcome and reduce the need for tooth reduction.

Fillings

Yes, we prioritise the use of biocompatible, mercury-free materials for dental fillings.

Maintain good oral hygiene by brushing twice a day and flossing daily. Avoid chewing hard foods immediately after your filling, visit your dentist regularly, and wear your mouthguard during sports and night guard if you need one.

Ormocer fillings can last anywhere from 5 to 15 years, depending on the location of the filling, the clinical situation of presentation,  and individual risks and habits, which would be discussed with you during your appointment.

Biocompatible materials minimise the risk of allergic reactions and are safer for long-term oral health, ensuring that your restorations are both durable and non-toxic.

Signs include tooth sensitivity, pain, visible holes or pits in your teeth, dark spots, and food getting stuck in certain areas.

In Australia, composite fillings made from plastic resin and fine glass particles are widely used due to their natural appearance. However, they may contain BPA and are prone to shrinkage, leading to gaps and secondary caries. At Mentone Family Dentist, we prefer Ormocer (Admira Fusion) for its superior biocompatibility, reducing allergy risks. Ormocers offer durability, aesthetic appeal, and minimal shrinkage, enhancing the longevity and integrity of fillings.

Removing amalgam fillings could be considered for the following reasons: due to potential health risks associated with mercury toxicity in patients sensitive to this material; when clinically indicated due to its failure; or for a patient's personal preference and aesthetic needs.

Amalgam fillings contain mercury, which can release mercury vapor when placed or drilled out. Not all amalgam fillings are dangerous and need removal.  However, If you’re concerned about amalgam fillings, we recommend scheduling a consultation with our dentist who can examine the fillings and recommend a course of treatment based on your situation. We offer SMART (Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique) to remove amalgam fillings safely if required.
