Dr Eshan Verma
Principal Dentist and Practice Owner
Because of merit, Dr Eshan Verma was offered a full scholarship to study dentistry at the best college in India. He received his training at Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal University, Karnataka, India. He appreciates being a dentist every day and hasn't looked back since he began practising in 2013.
Dr Verma always knew he wanted to be a doctor. He loved science and art, and dentistry provided him with a good mix of both. He thinks of being a dentist in this way: The D stands for doctor. The EN stands for engineer. And the TIST stands for the artist. These components create a DENTIST and combine the skills and artistry required for excellent dentistry. These are also all the aspects of dentistry he is passionate about.
When he's not caring for patients, Dr Verma loves spending time with his dog, called Google. He also loves art, theatre, concerts, travelling, fine dining, and being a nerd by keeping current with knowledge. He's also passionate about saving our planet and enjoys teaching, singing in his car, or while treating his patients (they call him the singing dentist).
He is also a self-proclaimed chef and loves cooking for his friends and family. A secret talent is that he can create a healthy and yummy recipe from random ingredients, and it always tastes good!
Dr. Sharon Guan
General Dentist
Dr. Sharon Guan is a passionate General Dentist at Mentone Family Dentist, holding both a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Dentistry) and a Master of Dentistry from La Trobe University.
She is dedicated to enhancing oral health and wellness by sharing her knowledge and finds great joy and fulfilment in helping patients from diverse backgrounds, especially when she can bridge communication gaps with her fluency in Mandarin and Cantonese. Her approach to dentistry is patient-centered, focusing on providing care that meets the unique needs of each individual.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Sharon is an avid musical theatre enthusiast and a cafe explorer, always on the lookout for new coffee blends to try. Her love for travel takes her to places like Japan, where she loves immersing in the culture and cuisine. At home, you'll find Dr. Sharon assembling intricate nanoblock structures, building 3D puzzles or spending quality time with her beloved Samoyed, Theo.
Dr. Guan is thrilled to be a part of the Mentone Family Dentist team and is committed to making a positive impact on her patients' lives, one smile at a time.
Tara Mackenzie
Dental Hygienist/Dental Therapist
Tara Mackenzie is our Dental Hygienist/Dental therapist at Mentone Family Dentist. She graduated from Melbourne University in 2006 with Dux of her year. Tara is passionate about getting to know her patients, she listens to their needs to ensure their dental visits are comfortable. She enjoys promoting oral health knowing the impact oral hygiene can have on the overall health and well-being of the body. Tara's bubbly and enthusiastic personality makes children at ease when they are in the dental chair. Having three young children of her own gives her a caring and gentle nature, allowing her to talk the talk and make their time in the dental chair a fun but educational appointment.
Tara always strides to learn the most recent skills by frequently attending professional development so she can provide her patients with the most up-to-date techniques in oral health therapy.
She works closely with Dr Eshan, so a team approach is provided for all patients
Dearna Miller
Practice Manager
With a diverse background in dental and salon management, Dee brings a unique blend of skills and experience to her role as Practice Manager at Mentone Family Dentist. Her journey in the industry spans over five years, during which she has honed her expertise managing dental teams and practices and creating a welcoming environments for patients.
Dee's passion lies in helping patients, especially those who are nervous, feel comfortable and informed about their dental treatments. She excels in assisting patients to stay on top of their oral health, ensuring they are always updated and well-managed.
Outside of the clinic, you'll find Dee skating, gaming, crafting up new recipes in the kitchen or playing with her cat, Kenzi. Fun fact: Dearna's name was inspired by the iconic series Star Trek, a testament to her unique and vibrant personality.
Gemma Horn
Dental Assistant
Gemma Horn is a valued member of the Mentone Family Dentist team. With a Cert 3 in Dental Assisting and nearly six years in the field, she brings a broad range of experience and skills to the clinic. Gemma's passion lies in the technical aspects of dentistry, especially implant procedures. She takes great pride in helping patients overcome dental fears, building rapport with our patients and watching their confidence transform over time, along with their smiles.
Outside the clinic, Gemma's a keen adventurer. You'll find her on a camping trip with mates, at a music festival, or paddle boarding on the bay. And for a bit of a fun fact: Gemma used to be an artistic roller skater, and competed in the world championships!

With his fluffy coat and tail-wagging enthusiasm, he's become our unofficial stress-reliever and mood-booster. Whether you're feeling a tad nervous about your appointment or just need a furry cuddle, Google's always up for the task. When he's not busy being the clinic's ray of sunshine, you'll find him chasing balls, enjoying a good belly rub, or taking a well-deserved nap in Dr. Verma's office.
